Mental Health Support Team

Mission Statement

The mission of the Pima County Sheriff's Department's Mental Health Investigative Support Team (MHST) is to insure individuals with mental health challenges are receiving necessary treatment and support through a collaborative effort with Behavioral Health professionals, law enforcement, medical practitioners and the public. This is accomplished by a simultaneous and parallel investigative approach in which there is an appropriate resolution in the criminal justice and behavioral health systems. Additionally, individuals exhibiting behavioral patterns of concern are identified to receive appropriate treatment to ensure everyone's safety.

The Mental Health Investigative Support Team investigates crimes with a possible mental health nexus. They also serve Mental Health Orders from Superior Court.  All detectives on this progressive team are trained to investigate a variety of crimes and come to the unit with several investigative specialties. The Mental Health Investigative Support Team also works in partnership with the Crisis Response Network, Pasadera, Arizona Complete Health , Crisis Response Center and other Law Enforcement agencies in Pima County.

We are excited that MHST was featured in the February 2017 issue of Psychiatric Services. Psychiatric Services is a journal of the American Psychiatric Association.
