Welcome to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department website. This website is intended to provide information and connect with the community through transparency.
January 1, 2017, marked a significant day in the history of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department when Mark D. Napier was sworn in as the 34th Sheriff of Pima County. Sheriff Napier brings with him 28 years of law enforcement experience including 21 years with the Tucson Police Department where he retired as a Captain. In addition, he served our country with the United States Army and was formerly the Associate Director of Operations for the University of Arizona Parking & Transportation Services. He has a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice and has spent time teaching Criminal Justice classes at Boston University.
Sheriff Napier has been married to his wife, Marlene, for 33 years and has four adult children and one grandchild. He has run in 42 half marathons and enjoys golfing and motorsports.
Continuing a career of public service, Sheriff Napier embraces this opportunity to strengthen the department and improve relations with the community it serves. His focus will be on public safety, enhancing our partnerships with other community organizations, and maintaining effective leadership within the department.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has been protecting and serving the citizens of Pima County since 1865 and we look forward to many more.
