Public Safety Transcription Technician

The Transcription Unit transcribes and edits case reports to meet Department standards for content, accuracy, and timeliness. The reports prepared by the unit are utilized by all members of the Pima County Sheriff's Department, judicial staff, outside agencies, the media, and the public.

The Public Safety Transcription Technician is responsible for transcribing and editing recorded and/or written law enforcement reports into a Department-approved format utilizing computer-based resources. Necessary skills include proofreading, use of proper grammar, and editing. The transcriber will utilize a restricted-use database to create records and enter information regarding non-custody and physical arrests.

Salary Information

Hourly: $13.4321 to $18.9869

Annual: $27,938.77 to $39,492.75

 
Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Six (6) months transcription experience
  • Typing speed of 45 WPM
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Satisfactory completion of a background investigation
  • Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays
