| Training |
 |
- Six-week (6) corrections academy, located in Tucson
- Seven-week (7) on-the-job Field Training Program
- Twelve-month (12) probation period, beginning at the start of the corrections academy

Minimum Qualifications |
 |
- High school diploma or G.E.D.
- At least 18 years of age (at time of appointment)
- Valid Arizona driver’s license (at time of hire)
- United States citizen or Alien work permit
- Be of excellent character
- Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language
- Prior Military: Must have been honorably discharged from the U.S. Armed Forces
- No felony convictions
- No unlawful use of a narcotic or dangerous drug within the past three (3) years
- No unlawful use of marijuana within the past year
- No pattern of drug abuse
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays

Hiring Process |
 |
- Physical Fitness Assessment: Coopers Test consisting of sit-ups, push-ups, flexibility, and a 1.5-mile run. This is a Pass/Fail test. Applicants who pass will take the Multiple Choice Test.
- Multiple Choice Test: 125 items, one and a half (1.5) hour test. Applicants who complete the exam are scheduled for an oral board interview.

- Polygraph
- Executive Review: The Executive Review Board identifies applicants for hire contingent upon passing post-offer psychological testing and interview, a medical examination to include drug screening, an intense background investigation, and a final review.

- Salary Range: $35,381 ($17.01 hourly) to $45,156 ($21.71 hourly)

increases per County schedule thereafter)
