Suspicious Activity UPDATE- The driver of a suspicious van located.
Entered On: May 9, 2012, 6:10 am
On May 8, 2012, at approximately 7:30 a.m., deputies responded to a report that a teenage male was riding a bicycle being chased by an unknown male in a van. This occurred in the area of Ocotillo Drive and Webster Street, in northeast Pima County. Witness accounts indicate that the juvenile evaded the van and shortly thereafter both left the area, the juvenile on foot. The bicycle was recovered at the scene by deputies.
The boy is described as being Caucasian with medium-length brown hair. He was last seen wearing a black or navy blue hooded sweatshirt or windbreaker, dark blue sweatpants with a white vertical stripe on the side, and white tennis shoes. His last known direction was southbound from the incident location.
The bicycle that was recovered from the scene is a 26 inch, 21 speed TRIAX model PK7. The serial number on the frame ends in ….5442. A photograph of the bicycle is attached.
The driver of the van has been located and an interview completed. It does not appear that the incident was an attempted abduction but there is the possibility that there may have been some type of criminal activity.
Sheriff’s Department is continuing to investigate what occurred. We are seeking assistance from anyone who has information about this incident, can identify the juvenile involved or may recognize the bicycle. Anyone with information is asked to call 9-1-1.
