Suspect flees from traffic stop; nearly srikes motor unit deputies.

On January 25, 2012, at approximately 5:40 p.m., Sheriff’s Department Motor Unit deputies attempted to conduct a traffic stop on Michael Boulier (DOB 11/01/78) at Palo Verde Road and 37th Street in reference to a traffic violation. After nearly striking one of the Motor Unit deputies, Mr. Boulier ran a red light at Palo Verde Road and 36th Street and fled. At Palo Verde Road and Gas Road, Mr. Boulier intentionally slammed on his brakes in an attempt to cause another motor deputy to collide with him. Mr. Boulier continued to lead deputies on a chase in the Palo Verde Road and Ajo Way area. Mr. Boulier abandoned his vehicle at 7th Avenue and Ajo Way. Deputies located Mr. Boulier under a U-Haul truck and gave verbal commands for him to come out from under the vehicle. Mr. Boulier refused to comply and was subsequently bitten by a Sheriff’s Department canine prior to being taken into custody.
Mr. Boulier was arrested and booked into the Pima County Adult Detention Center for Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and Unlawful Flight from Law Enforcement.
