Richard Leland, aka: Richard Daniel Heatley

On June 17, 1981, fourteen year old Richard Leland, aka Richard Daniel Heatley, left his home, 1915 West Riverview, at approximately 1:30 p.m. When he did not return, his mother reported him missing. On the day of his disappearance, officers believe he may have been seen at the truck stop known as Crazy Fred’s on North Casa Grande Highway. Five weeks later on July 24, Leland’s badly decomposed body was found in the desert near North La Canada Drive. The cause of death was classified as a homicide.
