Pedestrian Fatality on Tucson's northwest side.

Today at approximately 6:00 a.m., deputies from the Foothills District responded to a reported collision in the 1400 blk. of West Rudasill Road between West Calle Kino and North La Canada. Upon arrival, deputies found Peter Morse (DOB 07/17/57) suffering from life threatening injuries after having been struck by a motorist. Mr. Morse was transported to the Trauma Center at the University Medical Center where he succumbed to his injuries.

Pima County Sheriff’s Traffic Unit investigators responded to the scene for further investigation. It was determined that Mr. Morse was walking westbound on West Rudasill when he was struck by an eastbound traveling Toyota passenger vehicle driven by James Douglas Soukup (DOB 09/11/43).

After an initial investigation, Traffic Unit investigators arrested Mr. Soukup. He was arrested for 28-672 – Causing Serious Physical Injury or Death by a Moving Vehicle; 28-794 – Driving without Due Care; and 28-701 – Failure to Control Speed to Avoid an Accident.

The investigation continues.
