An early homicide leaves a 44 y/o Northwest side woman dead.

This morning at approximately 12:30 a.m. deputies from the Foothills District responded to the 6100 blk. of North Ginger Avenue in reference to a physical domestic violence call.

Upon arrival, deputies found Armando Lopez (DOB 01/16/74), outside the residence covered in blood. Inside the residence, they found Marie Antoinette Mesa (DOB 09/26/67), bleeding from multiple stab wounds. Mrs. Mesa was transported to the Trauma Center at the University Medical Center where she succumbed to her injuries.

Mrs. Mesa’ sixteen (16) year-old daughter and a ten (10) year-old cousin were inside the residence at the time of the incident and called 911.

Pima County Sheriff’s Homicide Unit detectives responded for further investigation. Mr. Lopez has been booked into the Pima County Adult Detention on charges of 1st Degree Murder. Mr. Lopez’ mug shot will be released when it becomes available.

The investigation continues.
