We are proud to announce Pima County Sheriff’s Department Auxiliary Volunteer Richard Jervis has been selected by the International Society of Crime Prevention Practitioners as their category I (over 100,000 service population) Volunteer of the Year.
Mr. Jervis became an SAV in 1993 and has now volunteered over 15,000 hours to the Pima County community. Mr. Jervis has served in many capacities over the years; Director of Crime Prevention, managing many of the crime prevention efforts in Pima County, including: neighborhood watch, home and business security surveys, and video identification program, SAV Emergency Response member, Sheriff’s Mobile Command Center driver, SAV Special Activities member, and a member of the statewide steering committee for GAIN – Getting Arizona Involved in Neighborhoods.
As a member of the SAV, Mr. Jervis has a long history of recognition. Among other accomplishments, he has been heralded as the Deputy Director of the Year, Director of the Year and, in 1998 he was awarded the highest honor of the SAV program, the Dean Sellen Award.
Mr. Jervis accepted his Volunteer of the Year award in the presence of his loving wife, Jean, at the ISCPP Awards Banquet held on November 6, 2004, in Scottsdale, Arizona. His indomitable spirit of volunteerism and incredible service to the people of Pima County are not only inspirational, they also serve to guide our efforts in life. Mr. Jervis’ outstanding achievement of this prestigious recognition is highly deserved and represents the Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the SAV in a positive, professional light.
