National Public Safety Telecommunications Week

April 10th - 16th, 2005

The week of April 10, 2005, is recognized nationally as the National Public Safety Tele-communications week. This week is set aside to honor the thousands of men and women who respond to emergency telephone and radio calls, dispatch emergency professionals and equipment, and render life-saving assistance to the world’s citizens.

Day in and day out, Pima County Sheriff’s Department 9-1-1 Call Takers and Public Safety Tele-communicators serve as the first contact with the public, and sometimes our own personnel, in times of crisis. With professionalism, and often under considerable stress, these extraordinary individuals help ensure emergency assistance is on the way. No matter how disturbing the call, it is their dedication to duty and concern for their fellow man which keeps them focused on the job at hand. They know people are counting on them and they respond with skill and diligence.

This week is the perfect opportunity to express our gratitude for these exceptional people who really take to heart the motto, “Be proud of who you are and what you do.”

We are proud to recognize the excellent work our communications staff perform on a daily basis and thank them for their outstanding service and dedication to the community.
