The Special Operations Section is a component of the Support Operations Division. Special Operations serves all of the Pima County Sheriff's Department’s districts and sections. There are 42 deputies, 5 sergeants, 2 civilian support staff, and a lieutenant assigned to Special Operations.
Special Operations is responsible for investigating a variety of crimes and incidents while providing an assortment of specialized services. The Special Operations Section is comprised of the following units:
Deputies assigned to these units assist with more conventional calls and incidents, but as a result of their training and experience they are often called upon for assistance in specialized investigations and challenging events. Special Operations provides these services throughout Pima County and much of southern Arizona for other departments and are available to assist any agency in the area, with the proper approval.
