The Pima County Sheriff’s Department is proud to announce the celebration of Clarence W. Dupnik’s 50 years of continued service to our community as a law enforcement official. Sheriff Dupnik began his career in law enforcement with the Tucson Police Department in 1958. He attained the rank of Major by 1977, before accepting the position of Chief Deputy Sheriff in Pima County. After being appointed as Sheriff in 1980, he has gone on to serve almost thirty years in that position.
Former United States Surgeon General and Tucson resident Richard Carmona, M.D. has spearheaded, and will emcee, the festivities that will be held in Sheriff Dupnik’s honor. This luncheon event will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Doubletree Hotel, 445 South Alvernon Way. Special guests include Governor Janet Napolitano, Attorney General Terry Goddard, Former United States Senator Dennis DeConcini, members of the Board of Supervisors, members of the Tucson City Council, County Administrator Chuck Huckleberry, Tucson City Manager Mike Hein, representatives from federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies, and other community leaders.
