The Pima County Sheriff’s Department has received a grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, Combating Underage Drinking Program. The $25,000 grant will allow the Sheriff’s Department to continue enforcement efforts in cracking down on underage drinking. The grant was received on October 1, 2007, and will run through December 31, 2008.
Dates and times of enforcement will be strategically chosen. Enforcement activities will be in the form of bar checks, teen party patrol, as well as utilizing underage decoys who will attempt to purchase alcohol at licensed establishments. The grant also provides for alcohol awareness education.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department appreciates the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety for its support in our efforts to stop underage drinking.
