On November 7, 2007, at approximately 3:00am, deputies from the San Xavier District responded to the Tucson Police Department’s main station on Stone Avenue for a reported sexual assault. Upon arrival, deputies made contact with a 24-year-old female who reported that she had been sexually assaulted. The victim advised that on the evening of November 6th she had been grocery shopping at Wal-Mart located at Midvale and Valencia. On the way home, she stopped to get something to eat at the Jack In The Box at Cardinal and Valencia. As she was exiting the parking lot, a Hispanic male jogged up to the window of her vehicle and pointed a gun at her. At the same time, the male/suspect opened her driver’s side door and pushed her over into the passenger seat.
The suspect drove the victim to an unknown desert area, possibly near Valencia and Camino de Oeste, where he sexually assaulted her. He then forced her to drive to two (2) banks along Valencia where he forced her to get cash from ATM machines. The suspect forced the victim back into the passenger’s side of the vehicle and forced her onto the floorboard of the vehicle. He drove her to an unknown area and stopped the vehicle. He got out of the vehicle telling her he would be back. When he didn’t return, the victim jumped into the driver’s seat and drove until she found her way home. She then went to the Tucson Police Department’s Main Station to make the report. Detectives from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department’s Adult Sex Crime Unit responded to further investigate.
The victim described the suspect as a Hispanic male, approximately 5’7”, medium build, with dark hair; he speaks with a heavy accent. He was wearing a cap with an “air force type” insignia on the front. A photograph of the suspect and cap, taken from one of the ATM machines, is available.
Detectives from the Adult Sex Crime Unit are looking for a male subject who is currently in possession of the victim’s bank card. Detectives have photographs of a male at the Diamond Shamrock at Drexel/Mission at approximately 8:15am. He also used the ATM located at the Mercado Carneceria at 9895 S. Old Nogales Hwy. This male is being sought as an investigative lead.
Photographs of the suspect, suspect’s cap, and the male investigative lead are available at the Pima County Sheriff’s Administration Building located at 1750 E. Benson Hwy. Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect or the male subject/investigative lead is asked to call 911 or 88-CRIME. |
