Help Us Find You in an Emergency

There are many reasons that Pima County residents enjoy living in the county’s more rural areas: less noise, beautiful desert views, an actual back-yard, and privacy!

A major problem for law enforcement and emergency personnel is trying to find “you” when you reside in the more secluded and remote areas of unincorporated Pima County. Streets and addresses are not easily visible or are not properly marked.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department’s Communications Center is equipped with Enhanced 9-1-1 technology, which means that the address you are calling from is automatically displayed on the call-taker’s screen (land-lines only, this does not include cellular phones). The problem isn’t that we don’t have your address – it’s that sometimes we can’t find it easily.

Every road without a sign and every house not properly marked with its address is one more detour before we find you. Every detour costs precious time and hinders our abilities to assist you. Minutes, or even seconds, could drastically change any situation. We are dedicated to responding to your calls for service efficiently and as quickly as possible. Help us help you in an emergency!

Please make sure that your property is clearly marked with the street address and that the address is visible from the road, day or night. Simple address numbers or elaborate back-lit ceramic tiles are available at most hardware stores, and will make your house more visible to emergency responders.

Taking the time to ensure your house is easily found will decrease the time it takes us to find and help you in an emergency. Every second counts!
